The buzz: Wallace is one of the best pure hitters in this class and his advanced approach at the plate could lead to gaudy Minor League numbers before a very productive Major League career.
2007 (Sophomore): The Pac-10's Triple Crown winner and Player of the Year, Wallace had one of the best seasons in Sun Devil history...finished the season with a .404 average and 107 hits...led the conference in batting average, slugging percentage (.687), runs scored (75), hits, RBI (78), homers (16) and total bases (182)...finished third in the conference in OBP at .484 and tied for fourth in walks (38)...was a consensus First Team All-American, earning the distinction from Baseball America, NCBWA, Rivals.com and Collegiate Baseball...was a Second Team ABCA All-American...named the District IX Player of the Year by the NCBWA...was a member of the All-Houston College Classic team...was a semi-finalist for the Golden Spikes Award, the Howser Trophy and the Wallace Award...led the team with 35 multiple hit games and 21 multi-RBI games...also stole 12 bases...was named the National and Pac-10 Player of the Week on March 27th...became the 12th Sun Devil to win the Pac-10 Player of the Year and the first since Dustin Pedroia shared the award in 2003...played for Team USA during the summer, winning a silver medal in the Pan-Am Games...batted .312 (34-109) in 29 games with Team USA, hitting two home runs and totaling 26 RBI...was second on the team in hitting.
